Highlander Block Party

About the project:

The pandemic lockdown separated many of us from our peers and university. In an effort to keep the UCR community tightly knit and improve people's moods, Highlander Block Party was established as a way for fellow Highlanders to connect with each other and still experience the university's architecture and environment from a remote setting. The project was founded by my colleague and me back when the pandemic lockdown first started. Since then, it was publicized and some UCR students joined the build effort to create UCR's official Minecraft world.

Various builds and locations are showcased in the sequence of images above. The project originated at Bourns Hall, typical of us engineers to start at the university's engineering school right? Another showcase includes the physics hall, which was built by several Physics Department staff!
